The Secret to Bouncing Back from Challenge

Have you ever thought to yourself, “Why does life feel so hard?” at some point over the past year? Yup, me too!

When the pandemic first hit I, like a lot of people or business owners, fell into the common thought pattern of feeling like a victim. I would wake up every morning, read the news, and let the anxiety of the “unknown” make me dread facing each day.

It was a yucky feeling — I immediately could sense that I wasn’t feeling “myself” and that something needed to shift in order to show up for everyone else. My role as a yoga instructor is only a tiny percent of what I consider my role in this lifetime which is to lead and inspire with authenticity.

Here’s little update on my journey and at the end of this blog I have a tiny activity for you that will 100% shift the trajectory of your day (psst it’s not yoga.)

Get in touch with spirituality

It had been years since I really had the time to dive deep into my spiritual side and I knew that if I was going to adapt to the circumstance and continue my work for the highest good of everyone; I needed to get my shit together.

I started reading personal development books like crazy, which inspired me to get more into meditation and journaling. I can say with my WHOLE heart that I’m grateful for the darkness because it was a kick in the pants to reinvigorate my light to shine brighter than it ever has before.

I know, it sounds “woo woo” and it's something that is difficult to explain, but what I can promise you is that having a sincere connection to your own intuition is real and learning to BELIEVE that obstacles are detours in the right direction is within reach.

Initially we started virtual classes as a way to adapt and as the Ol’ Pandy drug on I decided to put all my passionate little eggs in that basket until the world opened up, then the impact and reach became surreal. There were many “signs” that re-opening wasn’t part of my path this year — from the obvious disadvantage of a tiny studio without windows or airflow, the uncertainty of how long the “new norm” would actually stick to the limitless amount of people that I am able to reach online from all over the world.  I knew in my bones that focusing my energy on The Yoga Standard’s On Demand channel is how I can create the biggest impact in people's lives. I never thought this detour would be a part of The Yoga Standards path but (as always) in hindsight, I’m grateful for the challenges and is another reminder to trust the obstacles that will inevitably come in the future.

On May 31st, 2021, I officially moved out of the studio (insert sad face with lower lip puffed out). Every time I felt myself feeling down or on the verge of tears, I would magically find the perfect affirmation card with a message that I needed at that EXACT moment.

Onward and upward

So, where do we go from here? I want to continue to share my movement practices with you on our TYS channel (because, duh.) I'm also excited to pour my heart into helping you on your path to confidence and living your best life. My newsletter will feel like a love letter from your best friend giving you nuggets of inspiration to live your best and most aligned life with everything from recipes to self-care tips to the books that will change your life. I’m doing the experiments and research on my end and will share the most potent and effective information with you. Here’s the thing, I miss seeing you which is why I have continued the Complimentary Outdoor Classes at La Lomita as a selfless service to provide a place for anyone that wants to strengthen their mental health after the ‘Wrecking Ball’ that we’ve all been dodging (formerly know as COVID 19.)

Until we chat again, I’m going to challenge you to do 3 things:

1. Move your body with intention

Let go of any pent-up stress in your body and get moving! I promise you, even simple stretches can help you feel so much better. If you need some guidance, log in here or snag your Free 2-Week Trial here!

2. Set your intentions

Grab a pen and paper and write at the top “What do I need to do in the next week to feel the way I want to feel”. Don't overthink it, don’t even let your pen lift from the page! Let your thoughts pour out and then read it back to yourself as the observer.

3. Express gratitude

Send a thoughtful text to 3 people that you are grateful for. We tend to focus on the things we don’t have, but showing gratitude is a great way to change your mindset and your mood.

Here’s to a new beginning!

So what happens now? As with any new beginning, I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling nervous at first, but now, I’ve never been more excited! I am overwhelmed by the community we are building and I am so excited to connect with so many of you around the globe and continue to inspire YOU to feel your absolute best, inside and out.

I’m so ready for this.

There are so many things to look forward to, from upcoming giveaways on my IG to more newsletters with recipes, recommendations, and free shiz to give YOU. It’s gunna be so much fun. Until then, I’ll see you on the mat!
